SEN Forum

At Emerge school we believe that school to home communication is a key element and paramount to meeting the needs of our children. We understand the challenges parents/carers face when trying to obtain basic support and advice in understanding and acceptance.

Therefore, Emerge school offers a monthly SEN forum as a support mechanism for parents/carers, whereby they can seek advice or support from other parents/carers that have real life experiences and offer support around challenges in which they may face. This will be initially led by Diane Laing(SEN Lead) with a view of parents taking the lead within the near future as the group progresses.

On offer within the group, there will be opportunities to speak to a range of professionals who can offer advice and direct parents to the correct pathways, parent to parent strategies of support, update of legislation and a chance to come together to discuss everyday life and challenges or successes as a means of support and encouragement.

This is a chance for parents/carers to seek advice, lead on the support and generate an agenda for each meeting to gain a wealth of knowledge and skills in supporting their own children and having a voice  towards the school community.

We welcome all parents/carers and wider family members.

We provide confidential, impartial information from education law on disability, health and social care to help parents/carers, children and young people in making informed choices enabling them to play an active role in relation to educational decisions.  We can offer support if you have concerns with or without an Education, Health and Care Plan in place for the child or young person.  The service works with Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools, Academies and Post 16  settings, to promote positive engagement with parents/carers, children and young people. The service also work with alternative provisions as well as special schools and mainstream.
